NEIGHBORHOOD Location Hampton Cove is a high income residential area south of Huntsville , Alabama , that serves largely as a bedroom community for both Redstone Arsenal and the Marshall Space Flight Center . To reach it, from downtown Huntsville take Governors Drive/US 431 east over Monte Sano Mountain. Turn left on Old Highway 431, which is approximately 8 miles past Huntsville Hospital. Hampton Cove is off Old Highway 431 and is easy to find, with its beautiful waterfall just across from Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Formerly a rural area, it was once known as Horse Cove, because local residents used part of it to hide their horses to prevent them being seized by the Union Army during the Civil War. It was renamed Hampton Cove by a real estate developer. It now has its own post office. Subdivisions Hampton Cove consists of 19 subdivisions:
