The halloween hermit crab (''Ciliopagurus strigatus'') is a species of Hermit Crab native to the Hawaiian Islands . It should not be confused with the Halloween Crab .

The crab is bright orange with either red or white banding. They tend to live in an abandoned Snail or Triton shell. They may also resort to attacking and eating a snail so it can use the shell for its home, although the crab is essentially Vegetarian .
