is a
Manga by
Yoshiki Takaya , written under the
Pen Name ちみもりを, and published in the adult manga magazine
Lemon People in the early
1980s .
A four episode
OVA adaptation by
AIC tones down the explicit sexual content and deviates somewhat from the storyline and setting.
Set in the near future, a secret
Feudal monarchy led by an empress and named 'Hau Dragon' (
鉄甲龍) uses, as a front, a firm 'International Electronic Brains' and has built a set of eight
Giant Robot s. However one of them, named ''Zeorymer'', has been stolen and the main character, fifteen-year-old Masato Akitsu, is forced into piloting it with a mysterious girl named Miku Himuro.
- The machines are named after one set of Sino-Japanese mythological Element s which has eight components (fire, water, mountain, lightning, etc.).
- One scene is set in "Aoshibara," a forest renowned for suicides in Japan.
''Zeorymer'' has been a relatively obscure title even in Japan, as its reviews were generally lukewarm. However in its appearance in
Super Robot Wars MX and Super Robot Wars J, yet one of many in a series of very popular anime mecha crossover games, Zeorymer is an incredibly powerful unit. So much so that players of the game widely consider it to be broken (A term used by gamers to denote a character who is so much more potent than other characters in the said game that it disturbs the power balance), as well as the biggest factor in making the games' difficulty among the easiest in the series. Its dreaded "Mei-Oh" Attack is easy to bring out and can one hit kill almost any enemy in the game for a reasonable EN cost. What makes it most "broken", however, is that the Zeorymer is capable of regenerating 30% of its maximum EN per turn independently.
