There are currently (as of Term 1) 396 students with the class size limit being 25 - even though most classes are well below that number - as low as 17.

From years 5 to 7, pupils may choose a sport to play -
Flippa Ball, Tennis, Cricket, Basketball and Softball in terms 1 and 4 and
Soccer, Hockey, Football, Rugby, Netball in terms 2 and 3.
- on Monday afternoons from 3:15 (when school ends) to 4:30 and on Thursdays when the pupils play Interschool matches against other JSHAA members from 1:25 (end of lunch) to 3:15.
Year 4 sport is chosen and run by the P.E. teacher and is at the same times as years 5-7
Years 1-3 sport is on Wednesday afternoons from 1:25 to 3:15.

The Timetable in the Preparatory School for Recess and Lunchtime is as follows: Recess is 10:15 to 10:40 (even though the bell always rings two minutes earlier) and Eating Lunch is from 12:25 to 12:45. Play lunch is from 12:45 to 1:25.

In the School, there a four Quarters - similar to Houses - used for sporting purposes. Quarters often compete against each other in carnivals of their chosen sport (Flippa Ball, etc.) and athletic carnivals, such as the 'Athletics Carnival', the Cross Country , the Swim Carnival and in Quarter Days. Two Captains are elected by the quarter for each quarter and they are usually very popular in the quarter and quite good at sport.

There are a number of Student Leadership positions are available for year sevens and they include the School Captain and the Vice Captain (right up the top), eight Councillors (the second tier in the school, the Subject and Quarter Captains (North, South, East and West quarter and vice captains, Library, Sport, Chapel, Art and Music) and various Monitors for Library, Sport, Art and Music. Two Assistants are also chosen by Mr Wheatley, the Deputy Head of Prep, the Chaplain and the Chapel Captain to assist in the Chapel.

Students may choose one or more musical instruments to play, at a price. Recorder playing is compulsory for all middle and upper primary students. Upper primary students also learn musical theory.

Co-curricular music groups include the Prep Band , String Ensemble , Guitar Ensemble (a Senior School group), a Chapel Choir (of which many a Prep student is involved in, even though it is a Senior School group), a Year 6/7 Choir , a Recorder {Link without Title} and the Junior (yr 4/5) Choir .

After school programs are run - the school suggests at least one of these 'clubs' are participated in each term. These include chess club, homework club, Archery club, challenge club, card club and Sevens Rugby.

The only times when the school comes together is on Monday morning at Chapel - 11:50 - 12:25, Wednesday morning at the same times for Congregational Singing ('Congo') and at Assembly, where various awards are presented - from 8:30 to 9:05.

The school is modelled closely upon the elite English 'Public' Schools (even though GGPS is an independent school) and students are still expected to call some teachers 'sir'. GGPS is co-educational while the Senior School is boys only. Girls transfer to 'Perth College', a nearby girls school in Mt Lawley.

Mr Craig Wheatley is the President Elect of the JSHAA.

The School is supported by many a Support Group, including the Ladies Auxillary, FOPS (Friends of the Preparatory School, like a P+F or a P+C), Friends of Guildford Music (FOGM)
