The Guardian Unit of Nations (otherwise known as '''GUN''') is a Human army in the Sonic The Hedgehog Fictional Universe . In Sonic Adventure 2, they were responsible for the shut down of Project Shadow, the shutdown of the Space Colony ARK , and the death of Maria Robotnik . GUN also assists Sonic and his friends (possibly including Shadow himself) to get rid of the Black Arms in Shadow The Hedgehog . In Sonic X , GUN is a Military Branch of the United States Government . They took Eggman's technology and, with a few tweaks, created their own robots. They also took Eggman's Eggfort and turned it into their attack vehicle. PERSONNEL Commander GUN's Leader is an efficient officer, never backing down in the face of danger. In his debut, he commands his forces against the Black Arms , serving as the counterpart to Dr. Eggman , Black Doom, and Shadow the Hedgehog. He also harbors a deep hatred towards the enigmatic hedgehog. The commander claims he saw Black Doom with Gerald Robotnik releasing Shadow. When the government came to shut down the ARK and killed Maria (she was like a sister to him), he blamed Shadow for her death because of his creation. It is unknown why he was on the ARK, but it can be assumed that he was related to one of the researchers. He is the personal commander of the Diablon robot, GUN's most powerful creation despite it being unfinished. Once he speaks to Shadow before Cosmic Fall , he realizes that Shadow isn't evil at all and regrets attempting to kill him. Later in Shadow the Hedgehog, it is revealed that what the commander said is true, as Shadow learns in the Semi Hero ending. Many people often mistake Commander's name for "GUN General". In ''Shadow The Hedgehog'', it is possible he has Heterochromatic Irises , because one of his eyes is blue and the other is brown. After Shadow defeats Devil Doom the commander and the president realize they where wrong about Gerald's intentions and that he was truly a good hearted person. They decide they will help create peace for the world in honor of Gerald. Topaz The only named agent in Sonic X (anime-only character), Topaz is the human partner of Rouge The Bat . Though at first the regimental Topaz disapproves of the scheming Rouge, the two become fast friends. Their main assignments involve striking at Dr. Eggman and retrieving Chaos Emeralds, as well as serving as envoys between Sonic and his friends and the government. Topaz also seems to have romantic inclination towards Chris Thorndyke 's butler, Mr. Tanaka . The two have worked together on several occasions, and when Topaz lost in a tournament over the red Chaos Emerald, Tanaka gave her a necklace, a sign of a growing relationship between them. Topaz's last appearance was when Sonic and his friends were returning home. She said farewell to her partner Rouge, who gave her a ring as a goodbye gift. This is quite unusual, as Rouge usually covets any jewel she comes across. It is uncertain whether Topaz will return to the series or not.
