''Guardian Heroes'' was a 2D Side-scrolling , Beat Em Up Video Game in the vein of Double Dragon . The game was unique, however, in that it featured RPG elements. Guardian Heroes was Developed by Treasure and released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn Video Game Console . ''Guardian Heroes is one of the few games for the Saturn to use the 6-player multiplayer adapter. A sequel, developed by Treasure, was released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance entitled '' Advance Guardian Heroes ''. STORY An Enchanted Sword falls into the hands of a band of young heroes. Assisted by a Knight and a Golden Undead Warrior, they begin their quest to change the fate of the entire kingdom. Use martial arts, swords, magic, and muscle to battle the forces of darkness. Each character has their own unique fighting style. INFO Guardian Heroes was famous for its multiple paths. The game allowed the player to make choices on where they would go and what they would do after every level. This allowed for multiple endings and different bosses and levels. You could play through the game many times and change the story dramatically each time. The main game could also played with a friend. This didn't really make it any easier but it was a lot more fun than playing the game solo. One path even led to Golden Silver from Gunstar Heroes to be the final Boss. Just like in Gunstar Heroes he uses the power of 4 gems to aid him in battle. The main thing this game is remembered for though are the multple levels in the battlefield. This allowed you to jump into the background, mainground and foreground. Not only could this be used to dodge attacks it was also an important part of combat. SOUND AND VIDEO Opinions are divided regarding the soundtrack, but most players enjoyed the fairly lengthy, anime-styled introduction movie. Still, many were disappointed at the lack of voice acting in the game. |
