Group Facilitation And Dialogue

One of the most important resources leaders bring to meetings is tools that the leader is skilled in to assist groups in difficult moments. Having a few tools in the repertoire that a leader is comfortable with increases confidence both of the group and the leader

Many such tools exist.

Some of the most common are:
  • Circle Process, a simple, highly structured form of conversation using a "talking piece"

  • the Fishbowl, in which one group sits in front of a larger group of observers

  • the Spectrum, in which group members place themselves in a physical spectrum

  • the Samoan Circle, a variation on the Fishbowl which makes the fishbowl accessible to listeners.

  • various forms of interviews conducted in the presence of a group
