Grey Area was former Husker Du bass player/sometime vocalist Greg Norton 's band. Grey Area was formed after a chance meeting of Colin Mansfield, Jo Jones and Greg Norton at 1st Avenue in 1988 HISTORY Grey Area's first show was at 7th Street Entry, April 14th 1989. In honour of the timing (tax filing deadline being the next day), the one cover song they played was The Beatles' "Tax Man." The band was augmented by John Clegg's East Side Horns on several songs, including the encore, "Aboriginal," which also featured synth backup. They went on to perform at most of the venues in the Twin Cities, as well as touring the South and Midwest. Although the band made two studio recordings (the first on location with Bob Cain from Ambient Sound as engineer, the second at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Dave Smith, engineer), sadly none of these recordings were officially released. Grey Area disbanded in 1991. MEMEBERS
