Greek Legislative Election, 1935

The Greek legislative election of the 19 February 1958 resulted in a victory for the People's Party of Panagis Tsaldaris .

The most important event of the elections of 1935 was the refusal of all Venizelist centre-liberal parties to participate, believing that the elections wouldn't be fair, since:
  • special courts were still functioning,

  • two venizelist army chiefs had been executed, sentenced to death,

  • the new electoral law was not approved by them.

Without opponents, the right-wing parties had no problem to dominate the Parliament , whose role would be to adopt a new Constitution and decide about the restoration of George II .
