Grant County is a County located in the U.S. State of North Dakota . As of 2000 , the population is 2,841. Its County Seat is Carson 6 . GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 4,315 Km&2 (1,666 Mi&2 ). 4,298 km&2 (1,659 mi&2) of it is land and 17 km&2 (6 mi&2) of it (0.39%) is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 2,841 people, 1,195 households, and 800 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 1/km&2 (2/mi&2). There were 1,722 housing units at an average density of 0/km&2 (1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 96.90% White , 1.72% Native American , 0.35% Asian , 0.35% from Other Races , and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,195 households out of which 25.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.80% were Married Couples living together, 3.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.00% were non-families. 31.80% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.90. In the county the population was spread out with 23.40% under the age of 18, 4.30% from 18 to 24, 20.50% from 25 to 44, 27.10% from 45 to 64, and 24.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 104.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.30 males. The median income for a household in the county was $23,165, and the median income for a family was $30,625. Males had a median income of $21,537 versus $17,949 for females. The Per Capita Income for the county was $14,616.
