Grant Aleksander (born August 6 , 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland , USA) is an Actor . His longest and most well-known role was as Phillip Spaulding on the daytime drama '' Guiding Light '', which he played from December 1982 to December 1984 , October 1986 to February 1991 and from April 1996 to November, 2004 . He has not returned to GL, although his supposedly murdered character was found to be alive in July, 2005 . He also joined the cast of '' Capitol '' for the 1986 season, and played Alec McIntyre on '' All My Children '' from 1993 to 1996 . Aleksander has been nominated for seven Soap Opera Digest Award s, winning one in 1999, for "Favorite New Couple", with Beth Ehlers , who played his former love interest, Harley Cooper. He has also been nominated for three Daytime Emmy Award s. His played the bartender at Mickey's Bar in '' Tough Guys ''. TV guest star roles include '' Who's The Boss? '', '' The Fall Guy '' and an '' ABC Afterschool Special ''. He played Nicholas Drake in the 1986 made-for-TV movie "Dark Mansions." He read for the roles of Rodney Duke in the '' The Dukes Of Hazzard '' and Steve Carrington on '' Dynasty (TV Series) '' and was first choice for the role of Carrington. He is currently cast in two upcoming major motion pictures, one of which is a film about the American Civil War . Aleksander is also known for his activism in animal rights. He is an active member of PETA and many other animal welfare causes. He resides in New Jersey with his wife, attorney and former actress, Sherry L. Ramsey. EXTERNAL LINK
