Students are nominated by their high school Faculty for excellence within a particular subject. Students then compete against each other to attend the program. The "competition" consists of a series of Interview s which culminate at the state level. About 700 students are selected annually to participate in the program. For the last 25 years, Valdosta State University has hosted GHP. While attending, students have a ' Major ' (the subject in which the student was nominated) and a ' Minor ' (an area of study the student selects once arriving at GHP). Major areas include, among many others, Mathematics , Communicative Arts , foreign languages, Executive Management , Social Studies , Science , Agricultural Science , and Technology . The minor areas are picked from the major areas, as well as fields such as computers, fitness, and counseling. EXTERNAL LINKS |
