Information About

Government Cheese

The term is also used in the United States, often derisively, to describe monetary Government Assistance given to those who are in need of financial help. For example, if a person has received government assistance early in life, he or she is said to have "grown up on Government Cheese." This statement is frequently applied to those who are believed to be simply too lazy to work, and choose to survive off of the government.

Variants such as "Government Cheddar " in the United Kingdom and "UN Cheese" in the context of Foreign Aid , are also used in the same derisory manner.
