For example, the Allegro Library for computer game development is licensed under a giftware license (available here , on the official website). Users of the software are permitted to use it for any purpose (even commercially, as stated in the official FAQ here ), but they are encouraged to give back a "gift" to the Allegro community - for example, by adding improvements to the library, or by releasing game source code they have written, so that others can learn something from it.
