Information About

Ghost Hunters Incorporated

Ghost Hunters Incorporated is a paranormal adventuring group based out of northeastern Pennsylvania.

PURPOSE

The intended purpose of the group is to document firsthand urban legends, ghost stories, haunted places, abandoned buildings, and many/most happenings that are supernatural/paranormal in nature. While the group is skilled at paranormal investigations, they shy away from labeling the team a "paranormal investigation group," preferring a more adventurous and lighthearted approach to the subject of the Paranormal .

The outings, or adventures as the group calls them, are trips to places of interest due to the following reasons: history of hauntings, connection to the occult, connection to local/urban Legends , cryptozoological significance, and general stangeness. Notable adventures include the Barclay Mountain Cemetery (arguably the team's first real outing), The 7 Steps, Spanish Hill, Rosewood Asylum, and the Church of the Damned.

BEGINNINGS

The group officially got it's start in the fall of 1998 under the guise of "Hunters Incorporated" and included members Greg Newkirk, Nick Foust, Bill Angove, Jason Gowin, and Matt Ulkins. The unofficial beginnings of GHI can be traced back to that very same summer where members Newkirk, Foust, and Ulkins briefly created a paranormal investigation group under the name "Conspiracy of Three," which led to the evening Hunters, Inc. was born in a small Springfield township cemetery of Bradford County, Pennsylvania .

Since 1998, the team has gone through several changes, most noteably the lineup and addition of the word 'ghost' to the name. At one point there were as many as 11 members in the group but that number has decreased to the current five members : Newkirk, Gowin, Foust, Angove, and the addition of a "mystery member" that goes by the name 'Enjoy'.

CONTROVERSY

While the purpose of the group's trips is primarily thrill-seeking, Ghost Hunters Incorporated makes a great effort to share with the world the findings of these outings. The unorthodox methods (such as the use of holy water, blessed salt, religious provocation, and a healthy dose of sarcasm) used in order to gain these results has brought the team under fire from a large portion of the ghost hunting community, specifically with the popular ghost hunting group "TAPS." However, their style of so-called "guerilla ghost hunting" has earned them a cult following of loyal fans who embrace their left-of center approach to the Supernatural .

OTHER

Ghost Hunters Incorporated is also noted as having spawned a mildly popular ghost hunting group out of Ontario, Canada, called "The Girly Ghostbusters" (previously named the "Kitchner-Waterloo Paranormal Research Society").

Ghost Hunters Incorporated filmed an independant "Docu-comedy" in the spring of 2003 with director Robbie Newman for the Seattle, Washington, based Film group NewGil Pictures . The film went on to achieve mild regional success and there are rumors of a follow-up in the works.
