Vithoulkas began studying homeopathy in South Africa in 1960 and then continued studying at various India n homeopathic colleges. In 1966 , he received a diploma of the Indian Institute of Homeopathy. Upon his return to Greece the following year, he practices and taught homeopathy and helped establish the Athenian School of Homeopathic Medicine in 1970 , which has since been renamed the Center of Homeopathic Medicine. He was also instrumental in the founding of the Greek Homeopathic Society in 1971 and the journal ''Homeopathic medicine'' a year later. For his continued work on homeopathy, Vithoulkas received awards from the International Homeopathic Medical Society (''Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis'') in 1974 and 1989 , and the Right Livelihood Award in 1996 , as well as assorted honors from homeopathy institutions in several countries. He is also a collaborating professor of the Basque University and a professor at the Kiev Medical Academy. Since 1995 , he resides on the Greek island of Alonissos , where he has established an International Academy of Classical Homeopathy (IACH). Vithoulkas has published several books that were translated in many languages. His recent works, including a homeopathic ''Materia Medica Viva'' in sixteen volumes, are published by the IACH, his own academy. SELECTED WORKS
