The most substantial commercial aspects are the shopping plazas near the intersection of Wisconsin and Western Avenues. Found here are such upscale department stores as Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor , as well as numerous boutiques (i.e. Versace , Tiffany & Co. etc), day spas, and other services which cater to the Patrician residents of the area. The neighborhood also supports a sizeable employment center which includes the corporate headquarters of insurance giant GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) and the Chevy Chase Pavilion and Friendship Center, often contributing to traffic jams. Much of the neighborhood is currently undergoing redevelopment; older buildings are being demolished such as the Giant , Blockbuster , and soon Hecht's , and replaced with newer, more pricey structures such as Barney's Co-Op , Dior , and Ralph Lauren .
