Fretwide Pioneer of the music genre and lifestyle Run. Fretwide {Link without Title} is a music group with roots deriving from Punk/Reggae/Breakbeat & Street with a style that incorporates Running. History Established in 2001. Performing in the New York / New Jersey / Pennsylvania circuit. Fretwide was starting a style brought through music called Running. Genre: Run Run was introduced as terminology to define a certain style of instrument performance in a live setting during real time without a backing band. Basically a solo performer would arrange sampled loops for use in a live performance and executing those loops on the fly. What started as looping the sampled audio over and over was tagged as "Running It". With the lack of a band to perform, Fretwide produced simplistic songs/MP3's utilizing the Roland XP-80 and the BOSS SP-202. Using Breakbeats as the backbone for a continuous rhythm, A guitar track would be improvised along with a piano track. The guitar would be playing a reggae chop while the piano would be playing a percussive "Break". Later on, with the lack of a drumbox, Fretwide introduced a breakbeat while simultaneously playing a reggae chop on acoustic guitar over a freestyle vocal. Never have seeing anyone do this before to this style of music, he had called this progression Run. "Run" as in a beat being played with a reggae chop on acoustic guitar. The genre Run is evolutionary, mature, and fit music for the on - the - go lifestyle. Lifestyle The lifestyle of Run was set on values to further better ones self and to strive on positive motivation. Living an active on - the - go lifestyle, maintaining good health and being physically fit, Fretwide incorporated these attributes into his music. With a career in the US Military, Fretwide gets influences from running cadence's, otherwise known as "Jody's". Jody's are songs that are sung by the military for motivation while running during physical training. They play a key role in keeping high moral and for unity within the group. This experience has had a huge impact on the lyrical content and foundation of Fretwide's lyrics. Just as every music genre has it's listeners, Run has runners. "Runners" as in career oriented, healthy life style, drug-free, and motivational.
