Free (born '''Marie Wright''' in Dorchester, Massachusetts ) is an African American Hip-hop artist and Radio DJ at KKBT '''100.3 The Beat''' in Los Angeles, CA. CAREER Free is best known as the former co-host of BET video countdown show '' 106 & Park '': BET's Top 10 Live. She quit the show after some contract disputes with BET executives. Free has made guest appearances on a number of hip-hop artists' recordings, and is currently awaiting the release of her first album. She recorded an album but her record label Elektra Records went belly up. She was then put into a production deal with Motown Records, where Sylvia Rhone (former owner af Elektra Records) led her. Free did not feel as though this was the right label for a Female Rapper, so she left the label and joined Underground Universe. She is still good friends with Sylvia Rhone. She later shopped her album around to Def Jam Records. She was in the process of being signed, but due to pregnancy rumors she withheld. She is currently in the studio, recording new tracks for her album. She has a new song with Canibus. Free is said to be in talks with Irv Gotti, after her appearance on Ashant's latest album. According to reports, Irv Gotti wants to make her his feature Female Rapper on his new label, which will be combined with Murder Inc. She is featured on Ying Yang Twins new album, ''USA (United State of Atlanta)'', Ashanti 's ''Collectables by Ashanti'' and on Talib Kweli 's '' The Beautiful Mix CD ', She has also been featured on Canibus's first release Can-I-Bus, and she was also featured on Wyclef Jean's label Booga Basement, along with Lil Mo on the 21 Questions (remix). In 2006 it was announced by Los Angeles radio station 100.3 The Beat that Free would become a DJ at the station. She is also apart of an AT&T advertising campaign with AJ Calloway , also a former host of 106 & Park. LINKS
