Information About

Free-to-play

Free-to-play (F2P compared to P2P, pay to play) refers to any game that has an option of letting its players play for an unlimited amount of time without paying. Some of these games have both a free version and a Pay-to-play version that offers the full version of the game and all of the updates. One popular MMORPG example is '' Conquer Online ''. Of course there are other games for free. Many small games or browser based games attempt going to pay-to-play too early and fail.

In early versions of many games they have beta trials. When the creators of the game think they have ironed out the majority of the bugs they have to decide whether to make it free-to-play, pay-to-play, or both.

Many programmers keep a free-to-play version running so people can try out their game before paying the membership costs. It also helps in that the game may receive higher ratings, attracting more people to it.
