Frankston is a Railway Station located on Young Street in Frankston , Victoria , Australia . It is the terminus of the suburban Frankston Railway Line , however locomotive hauled services extend to the greater metropolitan area on the Stony Point Line beyond. It is a Zone 3 railway station with two platforms. As of October 2002 , Frankston was one of 13 metropolitan stations to have Metcard barrier gates installed. CRIME Frankston has been found to be the highest suburb on the Victoria Police list for criminal offences per postcode, and Frankston station is a renowned hive of criminal activity, particularly at night. Recent innovative local council attempts to curtail criminal activity at Frankston station include brighter lighting at night, and the constant broadcasting of classical music over a public announcement system, intended to discourage young people from being inclined to loiter at the station after hours. Despite the obvious crime element the station is generally quite safe for travellers. IN FILM The station features in the 1959 Hollywood movie " On The Beach ", however the old station building has since been replaced.
