I6

The I6s are all DOHC engines with VCT . They are a development of the SOHC I6s produced between 1988-2002, which in turn are a development of the Straight 6 .

Common specifications to all I6s

Bore: 92.26mm

Stroke: 99.31mm

Displacement: 3984cc

Number of valves: 24



Barra 182

These were found in the BA Falcon and the SX Territory and were produced between 2002 to 2005.

Power is 182kW @ 5000rpm

Torque is 380NM @ 3250rpm



Barra 240T

This engine was produced for the BA Falcon XR6T between 2002 to 2005. It is similar to the Barra 182, except it has a slightly lower compression ratio and a single Garrett GT40 Turbocharger .

Power is 240kW @ 5250rpm

Torque is 450NM @ 2000-4500rpm



Barra 190

This is the current engine found in the BF Falcon and SY Territory and has been in production since 2005. It is similar to the Barra 182 except the exhaust and intake valves act independantly in the VCT system. However, the slight increase in power is dues to an increase in compression ratio.

Power is 190kW @ 5250rpm

Torque is 383NM @ 2500rpm



Barra 245T

These are found in the BF Falcon XR6T and the upcoming Turbo Territory and have been in production since 2005. It is the same as the Barra 190 except it has a slightly lower compression ratio and a single Garrett GT40 turbocharger.

Power is 245kW @ 5250rpm

Torque is 480NM @ 2000-4500rpm



Barra 270T

This is the most powerful I6 ever produced by Ford and possibly the most powerful in the world. It also has the highest torque of any Australian built engine. It is found in the BA and BF Falcon F6 Typhoon and Tornado and has been in production from 2004. The increase in power is from a Garrett GT3540 turbocharger.

Power is 270kW @ 5250rpm

Torque is 550NM @ 2000-4000rpm



V8

The Barra V8s are based on the Modular Engine , however they are built in Australia. All are of the 5.4 litre (330ci) varient with SOHC driving 3 valves per cylinder and feature VCT. The Falcon was the first vehicle in the Ford world to have the VCT Modular engine. There are higher performance V8s called the Boss 260 & 290.

Bore: 90.2mm

Stroke: 105.8mm

Displacement: 5408cc

Number of valves: 24



Barra 220

This was an optional engine on the BA Falcon and produced between 2002 to 2005.

Power is 220kW @ 3250rpm

Torque is 470NM @ 4750rpm



Barra 230

Is an option on the BF Falcon. The extra power comes from a slight increase in compression ratio. This is done safely with the addition of another knock sensor. In production since 2005.

Power is 230 kW @ 5350 rpm

Torque is 500 NM @ 3500 rpm
