Almighty Folks SYMBOLS USED BY FOLK NATION Symbols used by Folk Nation gangs include a six pointed star ( Star Of David , although there is no connection to the Jewish symbol), adopted in honor of deceased leader 'King' David Barksdale who died on September 2, 1974 of a kidney failure as a result of receiving bullet wounds from an encounter with a rival gang five and a half years previously. The six points are said to symbolize Life, Loyalty, Love, Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. It is also common for members of Folk Nation gangs to wear Cap s tilted to the right, Bandana s hanging from the right pocket or tied around the right leg. This is in contrast to People Nation gangs, which wear similar clothing on the left side of their body. FOLK NATION INFILTRATES US MILITARY? In March of 2006, KFOX TV of El Paso, Texas (a hub of Folk Nation activity) reported that Folk Nation members were actively being encouraged to join the U.S. Military.
