Born in Cleveland , Ohio , Begin was ordained to the Presbyterium of the Diocese Of Cleveland on July 31 , 1927 . On March 22 , 1947 , Begin was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland and was ordained to the Episcopate on May 1 of that year. On January 27 , 1962 , Begin was appointed Bishop of Oakland and installed on April 28 . He died in office and was succeeded by John Stephen Cummins .
