Flower Mound High School




Flower Mound High School is part of Lewisville Independent School District and located in Flower Mound , Texas . The school is located on 52 acres of land that was purchased in 1993. FMHS opened its doors on August 11, 1999, to 986 freshman and sophomores and 108 staff members led by principal Norman Reuther. The school was recognized as exemplary in the charter year.

The second year welcomed 700 incoming freshman and the student body grew to 1700 students. This was the first year for varsity sports. In order to accommodate the additional students, another wing with 45 more classrooms was completed and used for the 2000-2001 school year

August 2001 saw the beginning of the first year to have four grades, with the first senior class. The student body grew to over 2400. The Jaguars began to make their mark in all aspects of district competitions, including athletic, academic and artistic. Flower Mound High School has received outstanding recognition in many areas.

Flower Mound High School received Gold Performance Acknowledgments from the TEA in 2003-04 for: Recommended High School Program (Class of 2003); Attendance (2002-03); Advanced Academic Courses (2002-03); AP/IB Results (2002-03); College Admissions (Class of 2003); TAAS/TASP Equivalency (Class of 2003); and Commended on Social Studies.

The 2003-04 school year saw Norman Reuther leaving the school, making way for Jack Clark as the new principal.

The school currently has around 2800 students and has received a "Recognized" rating from the TEA .


TRIVIA


Unlike many towns where the first high school is named after the community and subsequent schools take other names, FMHS is actually the second high school built in Flower Mound. The first is Marcus High School.
