Florida was born in Chicago and grew up in a poor background. She never finished High School because she wanted to support her parents by working in small job fields. While being a young adult, she met the man of her dreams. James Evans, Sr. . They later got married and had 3 children together James Evans Jr. , Thelma and Michael . They had lived in some Housing Projects for many years after living in a water flat. Her husband James fought to get out but never got a chance. In the fourth season of the show the children and Florida found out that James Sr. died in a Car Accident while in Mississippi while working at his new job. That left her to support herself and her 3 children. That was before she met a man named Carl Dixon (Played by Moses Gunn ). He was an Atheist in which her youngest son Michael worked for. Carl was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and had to move to a place where the weather was good for his condition. He decided to move to Arizona and Florida moved with him. In the final season of the show, Florida finally got a chance to move out of the projects and live in a fancy neighborhood with her daughter Thelma and her husband Keith. |
