Florence Biennale




Driven by a blend of contrasting cultural expressions, the Florence Biennale blends all fields of creativity related to Visual , Perceptual , Sensorial , and Tactile disciplines that have to do with fashion, Photography , Sculpting , or invention around the body.

Supported by globally renowned specialists, it is held every two years in Florence under the artistic direction of Germano Celant , Luigi Settembrini and Ingrid Sischy , at internationally prestigious museums and traditional exhibition locations, including the Cappelle Medicee , the Forte Belvedere , the Galleria Dell'Accademia , the Museo Civico Di Prato , the Museo Ferragamo , the Orsanmichele , the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti , the Sale D'Arme of Palazzo Vecchio , the Stazione Leopolda , and the Uffici .

The first edition of the Florence Biennale was composed of seven exhibitions and featured
fashion designers, such as Alexander Mc Queen , Calvin Klein , Giorgio Armani , Gianni Versace , Jil Sander , Karl Lagerfeld , Miuccia Prada , Rifat Ozbek , Vivienne Westwood , Yohji Yamamoto , and Yves Saint-Laurent ; and Artist s, Musician s, Photographer s, Painter s, and Sculptors , such as Beverly Semmes , Bruce Weber , David Bowie , Damien Hirst , Elton John , Inez Van Lamsweerde , Jan Fabre , Julian Schnabel , Kiki Smith , Leonardo Pereznieto , Roy Lichtenstein , Rosemarie Trockel , and Tony Gragg .
