Film certification or '''classification''' is a tool employed by many Countries of the world to divide films into a series of classes according to their content. The certification is usually into a series of age-divisions (in the form including-and-over) and either provides Guidance or restriction as to the suitability of a film for audiencies younger than this age. Films are usually certified both due to the laws of the country in which it operates, and the policies of the certification board itself. Films are often certified according to sexual and violent content, though any criterion deemed age-appropriate may be used (such as depiction of illegal acts). Of course, certification is not just a tool used by the young and parents, but by any adult wishing to gauge the content of a film.
