Information AboutField Marshal (australia) |
|
Field Marshal is the highest rank of the Australian Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of Field Marshal . Sir Thomas Blamey was the first Australian Field Marshall. The only surviving Field Marshal is HRH Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh . Only the Prime Minister of Australia or the Governor-General can appoint officers to the rank. Today the most senior rank actually held in the Australian Army is full General. The ranks of General Of The Army and Marshal used in some other countries are of similar seniority (but not always precisely matching seniority; France has both). SEE ALSO |
