.]] A Farm to Market Road or '''Ranch to Market Road''' (sometimes '''Farm Road''' for short) is a State Road or County Road which serves to connect rural and agricultural areas to market towns. These routes serve as a better quality road, usually a Highway , which allows farmers and ranchers to transport their products to market towns and/or distribution centers. In some states, F-t-M routes are marked with a blue pentagon and designated with a letter. number or letter-number combination; see County Road . In Texas , Farm to Market and Ranch To Market are official classes of State Highways and make up over half of the state's highway system. Iowa also has a farm-to-market road system.
