As fantasy sports, especially Fantasy Football , have grown more popular throughout the sports world, communities of sports fan have come together to talk strategy and ask for advice. The Fantasy Football Cafe is one of those communities. THE ORIGINS The Fantasy Football Cafe was created by two guys that go by the screen names Arlo and Menyak. Arlo had enjoyed several fantasy sports sites that either moved to a pay format or shut their sites down altogether. These events inspired him to create a free site where fantasy sports fans could "hang out" and exchange strategies and opinions. In order to follow through with his plan he needed the help of an experiened webmaster. Thats where Menyak comes in. Menyak had previous experiences maintaining a webpage when he and his brother biked from Boston to San Francisco. They felt it necessary to document their travels on the world wide web and Menyak was the one who did so. The two met in a bar in Austria, where they were living, and discussed their plans to create the community. THE COMMUNITY The webpage offers player rankings, mock drafts, start and sit articles, and point of view articles written by the members of the cafe. The most popular aspect of the cafe is the forum. This is where the vast population of football enthusiasts gather around to discuss whatever is on their mind. People new to the game can ask questions and the veterans will enthusiastically give their advice. The cafe hosts mock drafts in their forums and even hosts cafe leagues, where the members can face off and compete with the best fantasy football minds around. A very popular category in the forum is the General Talk section. This is the area of the cafe where the members spend their dull moments at work or free time at home talking about almost anything that comes to mind. Very frequently a joke will be posted or a news topic discussed or sometimes a tournament will be held to see who is the greatest historical figure of all time is. Nothing is too far-fetched to become a part of the cafe discussion. There is also rooms in the cafe where the fans of indvidual NFL teams will gather to discuss their team's matters. Who will they draft? Who will they hire as head coach? There is more than something for everybody at the Fantasy Football Cafe. CAFE PRIDE The members of the Fantasy Football Cafe are a part of the community because it was either the sole purpose for their success in their main money league or because they simply enjoy the discussions and advice. Either way, the veterans of the Fantasy Football Cafe are proud to be a part of the site created by Menyak and Arlo. They have engaged in Fantasy Leagues with other sites and have never backed away from a legitimate challenge. They realize that it is all they can do to gain some recognition as appreciation to the two creators for maintaining a site where they can enjoy its benefits without paying a dime.
