GEOGRAPHY


Faith is located at 45°1'18" North, 102°2'22" West (45.021648, -102.039502).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 3.1 Km&2 (1.2 Mi&2 ). All of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Faith has been assigned the ZIP Code 57626 and the FIPS Place Code 20980.


HISTORY

Some say the town was named because it took Faith to live out on the Prairie . Others maintain the town was named for Faith Rockefeller, daughter of major investor in the railroad responsible for founding the town.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 489 people, 201 households, and 139 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 157.3/km&2 (408.0/mi&2). There were 274 housing units at an average density of 88.2/km&2 (228.6/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 89.78% White , 0.20% African American , 6.13% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 3.89% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 201 households out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.2% were Married Couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% were non-families. 29.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.02.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 21.5% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $27,708, and the median income for a family was $38,333. Males had a median income of $22,250 versus $17,222 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $16,276. 10.8% of the population and 7.5% of families were below the Poverty Line . 19.8% of those under the age of 18 and 7.7% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
