Fairy Lights are a type of Decoration that are especially popular at Christmas . They consist of a number of small lightbulbs attached to an electrical wire, which either shine continuously or flash intermittently (to achieve a "twinkling" effect). Folklore has it that Martin Luther initiated the idea of lighting trees to replicate stars shining in the forest on a winter night. Fairy Lights are often draped around Christmas Trees , but can also be used in many other ways (including being strung between trees and being used to frame doors). The rule of thumb for fairy lights is to use between 150 and 300 per foot of tree height. |
