Fables of the Green Forest was a 52 episode Animated Television Series based on a series of books published in the 1910s and 1920s by Thornton W. Burgess . Originally a Japanese cartoon first aired in 1973, it was created by animation studio Zuiyo Eizo. It went by the Japanese name Yama Nezumi Rokky Chyakku (Rocky Chuck the Mountain Rat). The show was later translated into German (Rocky und seine Freunde), French (Fables de la Foret Verte), and English . Though its English title is generally agreed upon as being ''Fables of the Green Forest'', it has gone by various other names:
