Information About

Evangelical Union

Evangelical Union is the name of a number of Christian students organisations run by the Anglican Church in tertiary educational institutions. The word Union means 'an organization formed to conduct an activity'. The full name, Evangelical Union, is often shorted to 'EU'. The organisations also use the format "''' in their branding, similar to MTV 's "[mtv " trademark.

EU is run on many university campuses around the World. Its presence is especially large in Australia, where it is considered one of the most popular Christian groups, with numbers exceeding that of other groups, including those run by Pentecostal Churches (although many Pentecostalists do join the EU).

EU organises activities such as weekly bible studies, small groups, and breakfasts. They also hold an annual BBQ at the beginning of the year. A major event is Jesus Week , which is equivalent to Hillsong 's Encounterfest . The main goal of Jesus Week is to appeal to or convert non-Christians.

EU has a strong presence in particular at Sydney University and Adelaide University . EU Adelaide has a strong presence with more than 400 members, thanks to leaders such as Nick Parnell .

DENOMINATIONAL AFFILIATION

The EU is run by the Anglican Church . However, its membership is not exclusive to Anglican followers, and there have been notable members and student presidents from Baptist, Independent, Pentecostal and Lutheran churches.
