The ECI's first statement on global warming was released one week after the National Association Of Evangelicals decided to not take a stance on the issue, and released a letter stating that "global warming is not a consensus issue." A majority of of signatories to the initiative are based on the west coast of the United States. Many of the signatories are presidents of well-respected private Christian universities.
