There are about nine indigenous Ethnic Groups in Palawan. AGUTAYNEN BATAK CUYONON KAGAYANEN MAPUN MOLBOG PALAWANO TAGBANWA TAO'T-BATO The Tao’t Bato (also called ''tau't batu'') tribe of Palawan number roughly around 84 individuals. The Tao’t Bato live in the caves of Singnapan and Ransang in Southern Palawan. They are one of the last tribes in the world who have houses built on raised floors inside the caves. The Tao’t Bato have a language which shares word cognates with both Tagalog and Ilocano. They do not have a written language. They are primitive, judging by today’s standards. All men wear G-strings, while the women cover the lower part of their bodies with bark, leaving the upper half of their body exposed. They are primarily agriculturalists and use metals, while some do hunt and barter. They also have some traditional local music. |
