She was born in Doncaster in England , moving to Australia as a child, where she attended Sydney Girls High School . Her best-known work is her first novel, ''Seven Little Australians'' (1894), which together with the sequel ''The Family at Misrule'' (1895) deals with the lives of the Woolcott family, particularly with its rebelious children. She published a number of other books for children, short stories and poems. These include Little Mother Meg, Judy and Punch and Family at Misrule all extensions of the original story of Seven Little Australians. Ethel Turner has been awarded a number of prestigious literary awards and can easily be classed as one of the best Australian authors . |
