Ernest Brudenell-bruce, 3rd Marquess Of Ailesbury

Lord Bruce was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge . He was MP for Marlborough from 1832 – 1878 , and also held several official posts, becoming Lord of the Bedchamber ( 1834 – 1835 ), a Privy Counsellor in 1841 , Vice-Chamberlain Of The Household (1841– 1846 , 1852 – 1858 ) and Lord Lieutenant Of Berkshire ( 1884 – 1886 ).

He married the Hon. Louisa Elizabeth Horsley-Beresford on November 25 1834 . They had seven children:

Louisa Caroline Brudenell-Bruce (d. December 1894 ), married Sir Henry Meux, 2nd Baronet

Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce (d. December 27 , 1936 ), married William Hare, 3rd Earl Of Listowel

Lieutenant Lord George John Brudenell-Bruce ( May 15 , 1839 – May 28 , 1868 ), married Evelyn Mary Craven and had issue

Sir Henry Augustus Brudenell-Bruce, 5th Marquess Of Ailesbury ( April 11 , 1842 – March 10 , 1911 )

Commodore Lord Robert Thomas Brudenell-Bruce ( January 25 , 1845 – February 15 , 1912 ), married Emma Leigh and had issue

Major Lord Charles Frederick Brudenell-Bruce ( March 4 , 1849 – May 31 , 1936 ), married Margaret Renshaw without issue
