  • Written by Geoff McQueen

  • Directed by John Michael Phillips

This is an episode of the long running British Police drama The Bill , broadcast on the ITV Network.

SYNOPSIS

The Sun Hill cops are investigating a series of armed robberies in the area. When PC Dave Litten thinks he recognises one of the robbers from a photo, he bypasses Sergeant Cryer and takes the information straight to DI Galloway, believing that it will expedite a transfer to CID ... but Galloway soon puts him straight. Despite this, he does achieve his goal. DS Ted Roach faces investigation after an allegation is made against him by a member of the public.

NOTES

  • One of the villains in this episode is played by Sean Bean , who would later go on to find fame first as the lead character in the period drama Sharpe , and then as the baddie in the 17th James Bond movie, 'Goldeneye'.

  • Galloway gives Cryer the moniker 'Uncle Bob' here, a nickname which would stick. The way he says it in this episode, however, makes it plain that it is meant very much as an insult.
