Well this upcoming series will be an interesting one. England seems to have all out of momentum behind them. Many people including Darren Gough , Wasim Akram , and Inzamam Ul Haq and Bob Woolmer have been heard commenting on the series. ppEngland]]'s Pace attack of Jones, Harmison, Flintoff and Hoggard will have a challenge bowling on Pakistani pitches. English bowlers are mainly seamers who are used to bowling with the duke bowl which swings early in the innings. In the upcoming series the Kookaburra Ball will be used which reverse swings after 30 overs, which Pakistani bowlers are known to be comfortable with. Pakistani spin bowlers will be the deciding factor for the series. Pakistan has called back Musthaq Ahmed after a remarkable county performance this year. Danish, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi are going to be of great importance for Pakistan. As for England Kevin Peiterson and Andrew Flintoff are the main men. They both play spin bowling very well. Kevin plays county cricket with Warne so that has helped him out. For Pakistan to contain them is a serious issue. Shoaib Akhtar can come in handy in this situation, because both these English men have not been extremely confident against the extreme fast bowling of Brett Lee in the Ashes series this year. If Shoaib can get these Englishmen out cheaply three or four times, the series can really turn in Pakistan's favour. There is no doubt the genius Bob Woolmer does not have a plan or two in mind to tackle Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff. --Test Series-- 1st Test, Multan Pakistan 274 and 341 beat England 418 and 175 by 22 runs 2nd Test, Faisalabad Pakistan 462 and 268 for 9 dec drew with England 446 and 164 for 6 3rd Test, Lahore Pakistan 636 for 8 dec beat England 288 and 248 by an innings and 100 runs. Series: 2-0 Pakistan Man of the Series Inzamam ul Haq Inzamam went past a Pakistani record to make 25 test centuries surpassing legend, Javed Miandad. Shoaib Akhtar made a successful comeback after doubts of his fitness and commitment. England were sent a wake up call after their Ashes hang over. --ODI Series-- 1st ODI Lahore England 327-4 beat Pakistan 285 by 42 runs 2nd ODI Lahore Pakistan 231-3 beat England 230 by 7 wickets |
