The Ely to Peterborough Line is an important railway line in the United Kingdom , linking the East Anglia to the Midlands . Passenger services are provided by Central Trains as part of their Citylink network, and 'one' . The line serves the following places ( Ordnance Survey Grid References for stations):

Most trains continue beyond Peterborough to Leicester and Birmingham (via the Peterborough-Birmingham Line ), or to Nottingham , Sheffield , Manchester and Liverpool .

On the other side, most trains continue beyond Ely to Norwich or to Cambridge and Stansted Airport (joining in one direction or in the other the Cambridge-Norwich "Breckland" Line ) or to Ipswich .

The line is used extensively by freight trains. The railway yard at March has recently been reopened.
