By the age of 20, Roth was the development head for producer Fred Zollo , eventually leaving to write full-time. To earn his living, Roth did budgets and schedules for such films as '' A Price Above Rubies '' and '' Illuminata ''. In 1995 , Roth co-wrote '' Cabin Fever '' with a friend. Much of the script was written while Roth was working as a production assistant for Howard Stern 's movie '' Private Parts ''; Stern remembered and congratulated Roth on his January 11 2006 radio show. Filmed in 2001 on a shoestring budget and shown at the 2002 Toronto Film Festival , ''Cabin Fever'' went on to become the most profitable Horror Film of 2003 . Roth has released his second film, '' Hostel '', and is working on three other films, including '' Hostel Deux '' (due for release in 2006 ) and an adaptation of the Stephen King novel '' Cell ''. Roth briefly dated Hollywood starlet Courtney Peldon , and continued to show up at events with her for photo opps well after their breakup. One notable incident had Roth attending the "New York Minute" premiere in May 2004 with Peldon, only to leave before the film even began, after the photographers had snapped their shots of him with his arm around the buxom blonde. Peldon was left crushed. Camryn Manheim gave Roth one of his first professional breaks in Hollywood, and introduced him to many well connected people when he first moved to Los Angeles.
