Electric Circus (nightclub)




Electric Circus was an influential American nightclub in 1960s Greenwich Village in downtown Manhattan . Part of it was run by artist Andy Warhol , and it hosted many trendy music groups which later became quite famous, such as "Soft White Underbelly" shortly before it became " Blue Öyster Cult ".


HISTORY

The building on St. Marks Place in the East Village originally housed a nightclub called The Balloon Factory, which then became the Electric Circus. The lower level of the club was called '''La Dom''' (or '''The Dom'''), and was run by Andy Warhol . Other businesses in the area were Fillmore East and "Sine" (later "House of Trance").
