Elections in Ukraine gives information on Election and election results in Ukraine . Ukraine elects on national level a Head Of State - the President - and a Legislature . The president is elected for a five year term by the people. The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) has 450 members, elected for a four year term. Until 2005, half of the members were elected by Proportional Representation and the other half by single-seat Constituencies . Starting with the 2006 Parliamentary Election , all 450 members of the Verkhovna Rada will be elected by proportional representation. Ukraine has a Multi-party system, with numerous Parties in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and Parties must work with each other to form Coalition Government s. Representative bodies and heads of Local Government throughout Ukraine are elected simultaneuosly with the Verkhovna Rada.
