The Mission Statement of El Camino High School
The Mission of El Camino High School is to provide each student with a strong academic and elective program conducted in a safe and supportive environment with a staff dedicated to providing each student with the opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes which will empower him/her to achieve his/her potential. The school will promote a respect for cultural diversity and communicate on a regular basis with parents and/or guardians.
The school is located in the city of South San Francisco, part of the San Mateo County, California. The school is accessible via the Bay Area Rapid Transport (BART) Station, which is located directly across from the school. In addition, multiple San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) bus reach the school.

- : This course is designed to review and develop skills in arithmetic. It covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers. Fractions, decimals, percents, money management, measurement, and geometric and enrichment topics are presented. This class is required for all 9th grade students who are not enrolled in Math A, Algebra, or Geometry.
- : An introductory class in the language of mathematics, number systems, functions, and the reasoning process necessary in the advanced courses of mathematics. The course includes problem solving through the use of symbolism within the algebraic method.
- : The study of geometric concepts and their related Euclidian properties. Emphasis is upon formal deductive reasoning. Students apply algebraic methods to the solution of geometric problems. Students are introduced to Pythagorean trigonometry, and to analytic coordinate geometry.
- : Designed for the accelerated student, this course includes heavy emphasis on geometric concepts and their related properties. Deductive reasoning is also emphasized through the formal proof. Trigonometry, coordinate geometry, and enrichment topics are also included. Math contests and preparation for the Golden State Geometry Examination are an integral part of the course.
- : Algebra II develops concepts in linear equations, quadratic equations, relations and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, conic sections, matrices and determinants, complex numbers, and progressions.
- : Algebra II Honors develops at a much quicker pace, concepts in linear equations, quadratic equations, relations and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, conic sections, trigonometry, complex numbers, progressions and binomial expansions. Enrichment topics include more advanced trigonometric, matrices and determinants, and polar coordinates. Math contests are an integral part of the course.
- : This course is the study of trigonometry and analytic geometry. Trigonometry is emphasized during the first semester. Among the topics covered in this class are complex numbers, matrices, limits, polynomials, infinite series, and the basic properties and applications of logarithms.
- : Advanced Placement Calculus AB is a course designed to prepare students that will take the AP Calculus Exam in May. Students will study differentiation and integration of functions. Students can review for the AP Calculus Exam
El Camino High School is home to the following student clubs and organizations:
- : Maintaining loyalty and respect to family, friends, school and the church, the club concerns with fundraisers and community projects.
- : A club where students leran how to glaze, mold and use the wheel. Also, students may have their work displayed in the yearly Art Show.
- : The focus is a weeklong government studies program for high school students that take place in Wahshington, D.C.
- : CSF is aimed towards helping students pick their college. Activities include community service and at times a trip to local colleges such as UC Berkeley and Stanford.
- : This is a community service based club. Activities include organizing the Blood Drive, Canned Food Drive, and other fund raisers.
- : Club designed to educate student in French culture.
- : The primary function is to promote tolerance and open-mindedness, to dispel various forms of prejudice, to provide a safe environment for all students, and to promote unity and friendship among all students.
- : A club where students meet to discuss and explore Japanese culture.
- : Club directed towards the immersion of El Camino High School to incoming freshmen students.
- : Club that competes in the regional North San Mateo mock trial competition, along with area high schools Burlingame, Mills, South San Francisco, Terra Nova, and Westmoor. Teams of students are presented with a fictional criminal case, and take on roles as attorneys and witnesses on prosecution and defense teams, to try to argue the case.
- : A club that studies different cultures and encourages students to open their minds up to diversity.
- : A club designed to spread Polynesian culture throughout the school as well as the community.
- : The Service Club participates actively in community service.
- : Club in charge of recycling and keeping the school beautiful.
- : Club that desire to create social change through the power of the spoken word art form.
- : Club that encourages students to cheer for sport activities.
- : Club designed to interest those working out and lifting weights.
El Camino High School also offers a variety of sports, including American football, badminton, baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
