It is a Nocturnal Animal that feeds mostly on underground Fungi . It occurs at altitudes between sea-level and 1000 m. (The highest point on Tasmania is at 1617 m.)

Like other bettongs, the Tasmanian Bettong breeds throughout the year. There is almost always a young in its pouch.
