Known for his unique voice, quirky mannerisms and eccentric sense of humor Dusty Cobb is an award winning singer and songwriter. (See [http://thepulsemag.com/wordpress/2006/04/406-worcester-music-awards/ Turtle Boy Awards and Worcester Music Awards. Cobb's lyrics often concern love and loss and dark times. For instance his song "Maria" deals with a man who has lost his former love to death and he agrees to take care of her child because in her face his former love will "live on" POPULARITY Cobb's budding popularity is much due in part to regional act CRAIG who initially gave him his start as an opening solo act. Those opportunities together with a regular weekly performance at Worcester, MA's iconic live music club Tammany Hall {Link without Title} Cobb refined his live act as well as penned several songs such as Maria, Story of Love and Loss and Field Manual for the Freaked Out World (Continuity) the latter which deals with war, peace and political motivations. Dusty Cobb is known for his ability to sing out loud with passion and feeling in one breath and then bring it all back and whisper, drawing the audience in. EARLY YEARS What is known of Dusty Cobb is that he was born and raised in Queens, NY before later moving to Massachusetts where in his own words he "played sports, acted in plays, got into fights and had his heart broken" (Worcester Magazine, 3/06) At the age of 20 he moved to Worcester, Massachusetts and took up the guitar and at one point sat alone day and night practicing and teaching himself how to play simple open chords. After nearly five years of chiding by his close friends Cobb decided to play out in front of people and has not looked back since. PRESENTLY Currently Dusty Cobb fronts DC5 a five piece alt-folk pop/rock band that features Justin "JR" Perry on keys, synth; Chris "Conte" LoConto on drums; Neall "The Muscle" Russell on bass, and Brian "Johnny Santos" Buonomo on lead guitar. DC5 has peformed across the Northeast at such clubs as the famed Felt Club located in Boston, Massachusetts (performing on the same stage as some of his heroes like Dave Matthews, Lenny Kravitz and Bono), Tammany Hall, Trumbull's, Bad Moose Cafe, J.R. Bean's and a host of others. Dusty Cobb's solo exploits have led him to open for such acts as OSB, Uncle Billy's Smokehouse, Hint of Lime and others. Links/References: {Link without Title} |
