Information About

Dundee Harp F.c.

They were founded to provide a focus of sporting interest for the city’s large Irish Roman Catholic community, following the example set by the leaders of the Irish community in Edinburgh , who in 1875 founded Hibernian with the same principles.

Their ground was located near the gas works in East Dock Street. The club did not compete in a national league, mostly playing in local and regional competitions in the east of Scotland.

Harp's most notable result was 35-0 against Aberdeen Rovers , remarkably on the same day that Arbroath F.C. beat Aberdeen Bon Accord 36-0 (the biggest victory in British senior football history).

Their demise led to the foundation of Dundee Hibernian, the forerunners of today's Scottish Premier League club Dundee United .
