''Drumline'' is a 2002 Comedy Film directed by Charles Stone III . The plot is about a young Drummer who enters a Southern university and tries to lead the school's drum team.
MAIN CAST
PLOT The movie starts with Devon at his high school graduation in New York City . He is the best drummer in the senior band and frustrates his teacher by modernizing the band's rendition of ''I Can Fly''. Upon graduation, Devon heads to Atlanta to attend the fictional Atlanta A&T University, a Historically Black University that takes enormous pride in its Marching Band . We later find out that Devon was personally invited to attend on full scholarship by Dr. Lee, the head of the marching band at A&T. The band has a preseason that is similar to an athletic team's induction in that it is very difficult to last through preseason. At the end of preseason, the musicians must audition for spots on the team and Devon is the only one to make P-1, the highest level player. Throughout the movie, he hurts his standing with Dr. Lee by getting into fights with neighboring schools, disobeying rules, and by not being able to read music. In the end, however, he proves that he is a great drummer by producing a Cadence for the biggest competition, the BET Southern Classic. His team wins the competition when he joins them for the tiebreaker and the movie ends. Somewhere in between all of this, he falls in love with an upperclassman dancer and their relationship adds more drama to the movie. EXTERNAL LINKS |
